PM Coup is a project management community aiming to deliver a range of free hints, tips and tricks alongside leading cost effective training and project resources.  Our vision is simple;

We believe in achieving value driven results, by leading collaborative teams, through the application of lightweight tools.

This is how we run projects and this is how we intend to build PM Coup.

The world is becoming increasingly more project focused each year with jobs for life being replaced by portfolios and contract work people are increasingly being expected to manage projects successfully without any of the formal training of a project manager, take a quick look at the BBC’s apprentice for an all to real example!

This has led to a gap in knowledge with thousands of people being expected to step up and manage a project as part of their daily life and they’re often unaware of how to proceed. There are training courses out there but with a PRINCE2 foundation course costing upwards of a£1,000 even a basic understanding doesn’t come cheap, what’s more a methodology like PRINCE2 is overkill in these situations (ask around and see how many people use it in its original form without excessive tailoring!)  We’re not here to compete with methodologies like PRINCE2 and PMP, I’ve worked with both methodologies and like each for many different reasons.  However for day to day projects that most people deal with you need something simple and quick that gets the job done.

So why PM Coup?  Well ‘PM’ stands for Project Management (easy enough) but ‘Coup’ comes from its definition as a means accomplishing something succesfully often through non standard means, exactly how we’re hoping to accomplish our projects here at PM Coup!
